Standard DVD Authoring and Recording SDK

Various Audio Formats Support

In DVD Spec, it supports various audio formats, from MPEG audio to SDDS (Sony Dynamic Digital Sound) audio. The audio format applied to either still menus or motion menus, is limited to MPEG, PCM, and AC3. Audio formats DTS (Digital Theater Systems) and SDDS only can be applied in title domains.

Audio stream may contain either single channel or multiple channels, and a multiple-channeled audio stream may contain up to 8 channels.

Supported audio stream format in this SDK:

Linear PCM - Packaged in WAV form

MPEG 1 audio - Raw audio stream data only

AC3 - Raw stream data only, in either Motorola byte order or Intel byte order. It may or

may not contain time stamp bytes

DTS - Either in Padded format or in Compact format. DTS in WAV form is also acceptable

MPEG 2 audio - Not acceptable in this SDK

SDDS - Not acceptable in this SDK

DVD Spec also limits the audio sampling rate to be either 48,000 samples per second or 96,000 samples per second. Any sampling rate not meeting these two is unacceptable to this SDK.

For Linear PCM audio streams, this SDK accepts three different Quantization's, 16 bits, 20 bits and 24 bits. The built-in muxer is capable of swapping byte orders in each Linear PCM sample, packaged in WAV form.
