Application of Copyright Protection

Content copyright protection may be imbedded in the entire DVD volume. The parameter, CGMS (Copy Generation Management System) in each sector determines both digital protection (Scramble) and analog protection (Macrovision).

The analog protection (APS) parameter may be written to the VOBU_CAT in each VOBU. When both CGMS and APS values are larger than 0, the current VOBU has analog protection.

CSS may be applied to each sector when CGMS is larger than 0. In this SDK, the CGMS value is set to be 3 for the first 60 sectors when the sector count in the current VOBU is less than 120. The CGMS value is set to be 3 for the first 120 sectors when the sector count in the current VOBU is larger than 120. The CSMS is set to be 0 when the sector count in the current VOBU is less than 60.

Each VTS shall have different CSS key. In this SDK, only one key is applied to all VTS’s.

Regional Management code entered in the function will overwrite the RMA setting recorded in VMG IFO file.

When the nCopyright parameter is set to be 1 in the function the ‘PES_scrambling_control’ bit in the packet header may be set to be 01b.

When the nCopyright parameter is set to be 1 in the function, the nBlock_Len has to be set to be 2054.
